π’ Radiology Translation & Commercialization Seminar Series
The Translation and Commercialization Seminar Series within the Department of Radiology at Penn is designed to create a candid, high-value forum where academic investigators, industry leaders, and entrepreneurs share practical insights into how discoveries move from concept to clinic, and ultimately into scalable, real-world adoption.
While academic environments excel at discovery, much of this innovation stalls in the well-known βvalley of deathβ between proof-of-concept and deployment. This series is rooted in the recognition that successful translation requires more than strong science, it demands fluency in regulatory strategy, intellectual property, company formation, capital partnerships, reimbursement pathways, and long-term product evolution.
Accordingly, the series goes beyond traditional academic talks. It is intentionally structured to surface the often-unspoken realities of translation, demystify the process, and provide actionable perspectives that investigators can apply within their own work. At its core, the seminar serves as both a knowledge exchange and a catalyst, sparking dialogue, fostering connections, and informing the development of a more coordinated, sustainable infrastructure for translation and commercialization within Penn and beyond.
